Weather

A high pressure system had settled over the UK; no wind viable for sailing, warm and sunny.

Notes

We talked with Bob on Winfarthing, who had come up with the novel idea of collecting his wife Carole from Llandudno beach on the boat.  Since we had never gone there before, we thought we would accompany him.

As we approached Llandudno, we saw a flotilla of dinghies having a race:

We anchored in good holding on sand and settled down to watch the sun set, bringing out the lights of Llandudno:

I went ashore to get Carole (Bob not having to blow his dinghy up) and found the beach very hard to use for alighting.  Very shallow, and for a long time - and a bit of swell.  I had to drag the dinghy a long way.  We got our revenge by inviting Bob and Carole over to Genesis for a few drinks.

In the morning we saw Winfarthing depart, with a very poorly crew on board:

We said goodbye to Llandudno:

On the way back, we noticed our sister ship from Conwy:

Lessons Learned

  • Llandudno is not particularly suitable for yachts wishing to go ashore owing to very long shallow beach
