Weather

Saturday until Britannia Bridge: NE F3, then SW 3 variable. Fair, smooth, good.
Sunday was the same.

Notes

At last having some good weather, we left Beaumaris in the sunshine.  There was very little wind, especially as it was behind us at about the same speed we were moving forward.  We did lots of gybes as the wispy wind messed around.  Other boats were also attempting to sail.

Happy Fleet

We did one gybe and the main sheet got caught around the console table - easily breaking the top in two.  A very light wind but still a force.

After passing the bridges, the wind came around to SW.  We went past Dansa who was sailing very well with his chute:

At Plas Menai, we passed Trigger who was pretending to work in one of the centres instruction yachts:

Ocean Mood had all their sail out in an effort to appear to sail:

We radioed to Victoria Dock and Mark told us to go alongside Jaygee, a 41 foot Westerly Oceanlord.  We were second in.  It quickly filled up:

Crowded

We spent the rest of the afternoon chatting around the boats.  We had a look inside Jaygee - absolutely beautiful and hard to believe she is 18!

Mistral

We retired for a short kip to prepare for the evening do in the Royal Welsh.  After a quick drink in the Anglesey Arms on the front, we all went to the club at 1930.  It was getting cold very quickly!

A superb meal was then served - pretty good for £12.  Brian Auton was the head cook I think.  Later we had a couple of night caps on Snowbird.

The next day was very sunny and bright, but not a lot of wind.

Paul asked us all to Muster at Nelsons Column, which we did.  Hopefully we got some good pictures, here are ours:

3 of a kind

Hunters Moon was remarkable in the mast was about the same size as ours - and it's a 33!

Lessons Learned

  • Even a very light wind has a lot of force when gybing
